So someone told me that sticking all the Fiverr stuff about my courses on the JEMI front page was a bit 'tacky' looking.
My first response was to rush over to the nearest PC, log on, and fix the problem. I mean, I can't have cheap, tacky-looking stuff up on my website. What will people think?!?
Then, I slowed down to mull it over for a few minutes, and I realised God was giving me a small test: Was I going to get all precious over my website, and upset that it's not always 100% 'perfect' and not always 100% NOT cheap and tacky? Or, was I going to take a breath, realise that the whole 'internet presence' thing is nonsense anyway, and not rush into fixing the front page?
It wasn't easy, but after a bit of praying on it, I decided to stay cheap and tacky, at least for the next week. As I'm doing more stuff online, I'm noticing how easy it is to get precious about all this stuff, and caught up on the minutiae of my 'internet presence'. But you know what? I'd rather be real, even if it means I occasionally stick up cheap, tacky-looking things, and make mistakes.
So the front page is staying like that, as a small humility-inducing tikkun for this week. And if anyone is still around to read the blog next week, that's hopefully when I'll get around to changing it.
