In case anyone thinks Adams is exaggerating, in his book on the stomach called 'The Second Brain', author Michael Gershom, MD, tells the tale of how his grandmother fell prey to a massive infestation of tapeworms, as a result of her bad habit of taste-testing her raw gefilte fish mixture before she cooked it. The tapeworms caused pernicious anaemia and eventually obstructed her gut, leading to surgery and a downward turn in health, that eventually killed her.
Even if they're not regularly making gefilte fish from scratch, a majority of adults in the Western world may be unwittingly hosting parasites, and experiencing a whole slew of symptoms and side affects as a result, ranging from adrenal exhaustion, to diarrhoea and even mood swings, chronic fatigue and hormonal imbalances.
The western medical approach is to throw some heavy duty pharmaceuticals at the parasites - and sometimes, that might even work. But as the comments on this article shows, the drugs often don't work, and even when they do kill off the egg-laying adults, they often leave the thousands of eggs untouched, ready to hatch-out and repeat the cycle of infestation.
There are over 100 different types of human parasites
Also, bear in mind that with more than 100 different types of human parasite to chose from, and only a third of them hanging out in the stomach, not every drug is going to work with every type of internal invader.
The first thing to understand about parasites, as with every other illness we have, is that God made it happen. In the previous post, we looked at some possible spiritual and emotional reasons why, but the key thing to remember is that just as God caused the problem, He can also solve it.
So now, what can you do body-wise to tackle the problem of parasites without resorting to drugs?
The following things, combined with the necessary spiritual and emotional work, could help you to start to get a grip on the problem:
1) Take Grapefruit Seed Extract regularly twice a day - I've used this brand from www.iherb.com and it avoids all the issues about taking GSE that's adulterated with other substances.
2) Follow a sugar-free diet for a month - parasites thrive in the same internal conditions that Candida does (more on this in a moment). Any diet that works against Candida will also work against parasites and intestinal worms.
The Candida Diet website has a lot of good stuff on it - but beware going to extremes. If you're combining a sugar-free diet with the Grapefruit Seed Extract, a month is often all you need to clean up the problem.
3) Drink a lot of water with lemon juice - it alkalises your body's PH balance, and helps to cleanse your detox organs, like your liver, and help them to deal with getting rid of parasites, and their waste products, more effectively.
4) Try regular lymphatic massage techniques - you can pay someone to do it, but there's plenty of things you can do yourself to get your lymph moving. (More on this in a future post, BH).
