1) Aromatherapy - Try to find a good, reputable supplier or essential oils, preferably who deals in organic oils, as it's much harder to fool customers about the purity of the product when there's additional requirements.
Then, take a look at the following oils, that can all help to boost your immune system: tea tree, lavender, helichrysum and rose (warning: real rose is super expensive, but it's worth it, because a little goes a very long way.)
You can use a drop or 2 in the bath, or you can mix them in with a bit of almond oil (one drop to one tsp of oil) and use them as a massage rub, or even, just put a drop of essential oil on your pillow at night .
You imbibe the natural chemicals present in essential oils via your sense of smell, which is directly connected to your limbic system, and they can go to work on your nervous system almost immediately. The calmer and more relaxed you feel, the less stressed out you get, the less wear-and-tear occurs to your immune system.
The effect of essential oils is cumulative, and even within a couple of weeks, you can often see a real difference in your sense of wellness, happiness and physical health.
2) Food - Whatever you can do to lessen the 'toxic processing' burden on your immune system is always going to be very helpful. You don't have to go crazy about it - God is in the picture, after all - but the following general guidelines are a very useful way of keeping the junk to a minimum, without becoming fanatical about food:
Keep away from:
- White flour - use wholewheat or 70%
- White sugar - use brown, or other things like honey
- Margarine - wherever possible, try to use olive oil instead. (if you want great cookie and cake recipes with oil, try www.ohsheglows.com for inspiration)
- MSG - it literally strips the protection from your nerve endings. If you only do one thing from this list, this is the one: avoid MSG like the plague!
3) Energy Medicine - Spleen is the energy meridian most associated with a healthy, robust immune system, and for most people today, Spleen Meridian is in a chronically weak state. That's the bad news. The good news is that there's some very easy things you can do to boost Spleen, like tracing and flushing your meridians, holding your 'strengthening' spleen points, and doing the 'three thumps' (WARNING: clicking this link will take you to a picture of a woman with mild cleavage) exercise every day.

4) Negative People - The more you can stay away from negative people, the stronger your immune system will get. In particular, try to minimise your contact with anyone who regularly tries to blame, criticise, guilt or shame you. When you're on the receiving end of this type of negative behaviour, it can completely wipe out the energy flowing in your Spleen Meridian, which in turn compromises your immune system. (Yes, negative people really can and do make you sick!)
Regularly doing these four things should give your immune system a real boost, and make it much harder for illness to get a toe-hold.
